We are proud and delighted to tell you that the lead author of teachkidsenglish.com, Naomi Simmons, has been awarded Honorary Master of Letters from the University of Hertfordshire, in the UK. This honour is in recognition of her outstanding contribution to English Language teaching for young children.
The citation given at the award ceremony said,
“Hundreds of millions of children around the world have learnt their English language skills with the help of books and songs written by Ms Naomi Simmons.
Somewhat disillusioned with the unimaginative approach of most English Language Teaching materials for young children, Ms Simmons felt she could combine her creative talents with her interests in language teaching to produce more lively courses. Her self-belief proved to be well placed and she is now one of the most respected authors in her field. Her books and CDs are all carefully crafted to engage children quite naturally in language studies, by simply getting them to act out funny stories, sing memorable songs and play motivating games. The inspiration for her stories and characters comes from real life, and she feels it is this level of familiarity with local cultures, foods and family structures that engages children so favourably in the learning process.
With the launch of the website teachkidsenglish.com, children, parents and teachers in all corners of the world will have another way of accessing Ms Simmons’ highly successful English language teaching methods and materials.
Vice Chancellor, for her outstanding contribution to children’s education and English language teaching through story-based approaches and songs, I am delighted to present to you for the award of Honorary Master of Letters, Ms Naomi Simmons.”
We are delighted by Naomi Simmons’ success and proud to have her as the author of our materials.
